Are you ready to push your limits, experience the breathtaking beauty of Romania, and make a lasting impact in the fight against human trafficking?
This is your invitation to join the Trek Against Trafficking – a unique expedition to conquer Romania’s highest mountain, Moldoveanu Peak, while fundraising to support the vital work of Justice & Care.
What is the Trek Against Trafficking?
Justice & Care’s CEO James Clarry will be leading a team on a trip to Romania from Thursday 18th September to Monday 22nd September, 2025. Guided by elite professionals, the group will hike through breathtaking trails to stand atop Romania’s highest peak at 2,545m.
This is a demanding two-day trail designed for those ready to test their endurance and determination. Participants will journey safely with certified mountain guides and emergency care medics who prioritise their success and security. You can see some of the views you could see if you take part here.
The group will get the chance to delve into Justice & Care’s work in a welcome dinner with Justice & Care’s Romania Country Director and local team. Other highlights include a drive through Transylvania via the iconic Transfăgărășan Highway, an overnight stay on the stunning Lake Balea and a stay in a mountain cabin.
Every step you take to reach Moldoveanu Peak will directly support Justice & Care’s work fighting modern slavery. There is a minimum fundraising target of £7,500 per person – all of which will help our team to continue to rescue victims, prosecute traffickers, safeguard vulnerable communities and deliver the systemic change needed to end this crime.
How much does it cost?
The total cost per person of the Trek Against Trafficking 25 (Transylvania) is £1,750.
Included in entry fee: Accommodation, internal transport, mountain guides and specialist support and trip fees.
Not included: Flights, personal expenses, personal travel insurance, and any family members’ expenses.
How your fundraising will make a difference
With over 50 million victims of modern slavery worldwide, the mission to end this this crime is more urgent than ever.
For us at Justice & Care, these numbers are personal. We work in the UK, Bangladesh and Romania to support those who have been most affected by slavery. This expedition will directly support our global programmes, creating a ripple effect of change and hope for those trapped in exploitation.
Your support would help people like Daniel* for example, a young man from Nigeria, brought to the UK against his will to have his kidney transplanted at an NHS hospital; or Daria*, who was forced into sexual exploitation by a trafficker who pretended to be her boyfriend. Both have been supported to rebuild their lives and helped to seek justice against their traffickers.
To date, we have helped more than 5,000 victims to walk free, given specialist support to 4,700 survivors and seen 300 traffickers jailed. But to end this crime, we know systemic change is desperately needed. That is why our team also uses their frontline experience and expertise to create large-scale, replicable change, partnering with governments and key stakeholders to strengthen the anti-slavery fight.
