Slavery at Home: a new bill to tackle slavery in Britain
This paper calls for new momentum in the fight against modern slavery happening in communities across Britain. Building on earlier research by the Modern Slavery Policy Unit, the paper urges the Government to introduce the proposed new modern slavery bill and recommends four areas to strengthen the modern slavery system to meet the evolving challenge of slavery on our doorstep: Stamping out an emerging form of slavery known as ‘cuckooing’, Getting tough on modern slavery offenders to ensure that justice is served with the strength and seriousness these crimes deserve, Shifting the balance in business supply chains, and Smarter support for victims of modern slavery.
