Powerful feature in The Sunday Times on Justice and Care case

January 27, 2025

The brutal reality and prevalence of modern slavery in Britain was laid bare in a long read in yesterday’s Sunday Times Magazine. So too the impact that can be made by a group of courageous survivors and dedicated police officers working alongside our Victim Navigator team.

The article, by the journalist Steve Boggan, focused on the case of at least 16 people who were trafficked from the Czech Republic and forced to work in factories and a McDonald’s Restaurant.

We remain astonished that clear signs of exploitation were missed by people who should have spotted them – as you’ll read in the article, the survivors say there’s been no apology from McDonald’s or the franchisees, both of whom have gone on to build businesses that make tens of millions of pounds a year.

You can read the piece on The Sunday Times magazine website.
