Stop Slavery Award Winner

May 5, 2022

We are delighted to announce that our UK Victim Navigator Programme has been awarded a coveted Thomson Reuters Foundation Stop Slavery Award – the equivalent of an Oscar in the anti-human trafficking sector.

For the last four years, we have been pioneering the programme in the UK – embedding our specialist team within police forces and other frontline teams around the country to help combat slavery.

Our Navigators are there to provide strategic advice into cases, train officers and most critically provide care to survivors – helping them to rebuild their lives and engage with police investigations.

The impact has been extraordinary, including almost tripling the number of victims willing to engage with police. Last month alone, the programme led to 13 successful prosecutions. It has won plaudits, including from the UK’s Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner and many MPs, including just last week from Theresa May.

We are delighted by the award and it is the second time we have won – having previously secured one for our work in Bangladesh. We share it with the brilliant teams our Navigators work with and the brave survivors we support.
