International Women’s Day: Empowering women through education

February 25, 2022

A key part of our aftercare work in Bangladesh is done by empowering survivors of modern slavery to reintegrate back into their communities – by rebuilding resilience and hope for their futures.

Our team provides various training opportunities and educational support to empower and equip female survivors with useful tools and life skills.

“It was not possible without getting Justice and Care’s help. I am just speechless. My parents are so happy.”– Adel, slavery survivor

19 survivors recently completed our life skill training and we have helped three of them; Adel, Ura and Shiva* pass their Secondary School Certificates gaining very strong results.

The three young women were delighted with their grades, Ura shared:

“The score I have got is beyond my expectations as I had to overcome a series of adversities.”

Shiva had scored an outstanding GPA of 4.75/5 and plans to continue her studies by enrolling on a Diploma in Agricultural Engineering.

We also recently trained and supported eight survivors to establish income generation activities including chicken and goat rearing, tailoring and grocery businesses.
