Victim’s Brave Testimony Leads to Conviction

January 15, 2021

“Thank you – you gave me the courage to do this.”

Supporting slavery victims as they share their traumatic stories is often vital in providing police with enough evidence to arrest the suspected traffickers.

Our Victim Navigator in Essex recently provided support to a victim of domestic servitude and sexual exploitation. She had been raped, assaulted, and controlled through violence for several years.

Thankfully, through our training and intervention police were able to recognise the offences as modern slavery.

With our support, the victim bravely gave her testimony in court and the man responsible for her exploitation has been convicted, with further charges still pending.

Our Victim Navigator is continuing to provide support for the woman as she rebuilds her life, not only for herself but also for her young daughter who was born into slavery.

Join our Freedom Network and help bring freedom to more mothers and daughters.
